What is a Nurse Practitioner?
A Nurse Practitioner is a registered nurse with advanced graduate school training, usually at the Masters or Doctorate level. Nurse Practitioners provide many health care services to patients that only physicians in the pastperformed. These services may include both illness and well care, prescribing medications and minor surgical procedures such as suturing, removing warts and moles and newborn circumcisions. Nurse Practitioners will consult with or refer to their physician colleagues, if needed, for complex health care problems.
